Quartet Records and Gruppo Sugar present the world premiere release of an exotic Adolfo Waitzman score: La ragazza dalla pelle di corallo (1976) stars exotica sensation Norma Jordan in one of her last significant film appearances.
The story is set the Dominican Republic, where an Italian businessman’s investigation of tobacco cultivation leads to the uncovering of a smuggling ring with a beautiful mulatto bride in tow.
Argentinean-born composer Adolfo Waitzman (Pensione Paura, A Candle for the Devil, Diferente) pulls out all the stops to bring the busy streets of Santo Domingo to listeners. Up-tempo percussion pieces and a few electronica cues mix with a truly infectious love theme which was a hot selection of library LPs in the past, thus making it to into many other productions.
There has been no actual soundtrack release of the film, although some cuts were made available through CAM’s library records. The CD features the complete score, restored and mastered by Claudio Fuiano, with a lush 8-page booklet in which Gergely Hubai discusses the film, the composer and the score.
